Michelle Knight shares her horrible experience after being kidnapped in Finding Me. Michelle has not had an easy life from being in a dysfunctional family, being abused, homeless to becoming pregnant and fighting to keep her son. One day Michelle gets lost and stops into a Dollar General store for directions and her whole life changes.

Michelle believes she is getting directions and a ride from a friend who turned out to be a monster. Ariel Castro was a school bus driver and the father of Emily Castro, a classmate of Deanna who happened to introduce Michelle to Emily. When Michelle takes a ride from Ariel she never thought she would never make it home. Ariel kept Michelle captive from August of 2002 till May of 2013 where she and two other girls finally escaped.

In this length of time, Michelle was tortured, raped and beat causing her to suffer from several miscarriages. Ariel verbally abused Michelle constantly telling her no one wanted her back. Michelle’s spirit was in a constant war but she would not give up hope.

Finding Me was a heart wrenching story of Michelle’s strength and courage to survive. I applaud Michelle for sharing her story and for not letting fear and her situation defeat her. This was an emotional and touching book but one that needs to be read. It only takes one day for your life to take a drastic change but like Michelle, you have to be strong enough to fight through your circumstance to come out with the victory. This is a must read that will empower others to not give up.
