Could you give up your career for family? Sharay Franklin did in She’s Got Her Own by Kem M. Smith. Sharay had a wonderful six figure job doing what she loved but she receives a call from her son’s school that changes everything. Sharay goes from a successful business woman to a stay at home mother. Sharay quits her job with the blessings from her husband, Brian to home school their children. Sharay soon realizes that she may have made a quick decision that she is praying she won’t regret.

Brian Franklin is working to move forward in his church and wants his wife to stand behind him and put her differences with his church behind her. Brian does agree that their children should be homeschooled. Brian soon takes the reign at home making sure the children are taking care of and his wife has curved her spending habits. Brian starts to worry about finances and making sure their house is running properly but it seems the task is taking its toll on him. Or is it?

Sharay starts noticing a change in her husband’s behavior and now it seems they are drifting apart. When Sharay runs into an old high school friend her perspective on life takes a turn especially since Brian’s controlling manner surfaces. When the secret behind Brian’s strange behavior is revealed, what will Sharay do?

She’s Got Her Own was a suspenseful book of drama, secrets and betrayal. It was a page turner of pure excitement that will have readers anticipating the ending. The characters were well-developed with a strong plot and the twists and turns were just right. I cannot wait to read more from this author. I recommend She’s Got Her Own to others.
