About The Author
LaToya Gay is the founder of VirtuallyNSync, LLC, (founded in November 2012) previously known as a resource for VA’s and Work at Home Moms but recently changed the direction of her career and is now considered a virtual resource center for young women under the ages of 30 years old. LaToya has now stepped out of her comfort zone from previously running a successful virtual assistant team to now becoming a youth empowerment speaker and mentor to young women around the globe. With her newest book series Born 2 Be Different releasing in 2015, she wants young women who are dealing with low self-worth and self-esteem to understand that they are not alone.
After having several health issues with her last pregnancy in 2009 and with the support of her husband of 5 years she was able to leave her full time job and become a full time stay at home mother. This was definitely a huge decision for their family and a journey that challenged LaToya to launch out into the deep. LaToya is very passionate about helping young women push through their doubts and chase after their dreams by accepting the purpose for their life and realizing that they were created to stand out from the crowd and live life differently. In addition to launching her business, she was able to start her own full service Christian virtual assistant team which served over 23 clients nationwide. She has been featured in an interview with Tamyka Washington of Marketing her Way, Nominated for “Woman of the Year” with WERock Awards, Nominated for “Leading mom in business” with StartUpNation and featured in an interview with Leslie Truex of Work at Home Success.
LaToya is on fire for Christ and as a licensed and ordained minister, has made it her personal mission to help young women Be, Live and Do Life Differently while making a Kingdom Impact. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, singing and whatever the future holds for her and her family.
Q & A with LaToya Gay
A&RBC: Where did the concept for Born 2 Be Different come from?
The concept behind Born 2 Be Different comes from the scripture Ephesians 2:10 God has made us what we are. He has created us in Christ Jesus to live lives filled with Good works that he has prepared for us to do. (God’s Word Translation)
God chose me to carry out such a powerful project to not only inspire and encourage me to walk in my calling but to also be a light to other young ladies around the world who struggle with their self-worth. To be able to share my testimony for others to witness and come from both sides UNDER and OVER 30 I truly believe young women will understand that they are not alone and accept their difference in Christ.
A&RBC: Why did you feel you had to write this book?
I want young ladies under the ages of 30 to realize their worth in Christ and accept the fact that there were created to stand out and be different. We were not created to stand in with the crowd and blend in with the world but we were created to be the change the world needs to see. This book shares 14 empowering stories from 7 women under 30 and 7 women over 30 with different perspectives and walks of life. We want to BE the difference and impact the lives of young ladies around the world with our testimonies of overcoming the world’s statistics of how we should live.
A&RBC: Why was it important to have stories written from women that where younger and older than 30?
We want young ladies to see diversity. When you are sharing stories from both point of views you are allowing the reader to see that they are not alone but also embrace the wisdom that women older than us have endured and the steps they took to overcome their odds to make a Kingdom Impact. Whatever they are going through is nothing new to us. We have all, whether young and old have experienced the same issues they currently face. When young ladies hear from both sides, they are able to take knowledge from it and use that wisdom to grow and accept our difference and beauty.
A&RBC: What do you want readers to take from Born 2 Be Different?
We want their lives to be forever changed. We are all beautifully and wonderfully made in Christ. Nothing that the enemy throws our way can stop us from loving God and accepting the fact that we are more than conquerors. When the readers read Born 2 Be Different, I want them to understand that in spite of our past mistakes and pains we are and will come out victorious and with our difference and living the characteristics of Christ.
A&RBC: What 4 tips can you give an author wanting to write an anthology?
- Never give up!!
- Set goals for your project. Create a marketing plan that you can stick to and hold yourself accountable.
- Pray and Write down your Passion Behind the Book
- Allow God to reveal who you are supposed to collaborate with. Do not rush this part of the process. You want people beside you that understand your vision. They have the similar passion you do. It is not always about who sells the most book and what they can gain financially out of this.
