Book Review: Practice What You Praise by Candice Y. Johnson

Jo Jo Blessing is a young mother trying to overlook people judging her. She loves to dance and is a part of the praise team at her church. The members feel Jo Jo should not be allowed to dance because she had a child out of wedlock. It seems everyone is quick to chastise and judge Jo Jo but no one has said anything to the father of her child. He is allowed to continue his activities in the church. Jo Jo will need to stand in faith because where there is a will there is a way, especially when God is in the mist.

Practice What You Praise is about teen pregnancy and how it affects a teenager’s life. It also shows how people are quick to judge even those who know your true character. I can truly relate to Jo Jo’s character having been a teen mother myself. This character’s strength and faith touched my heart. This book had a strong storyline with well-developed characters and a strong message. It is a wonderful book for young teens to read. I look forward to reading more from this author.
