It was fun diving into Susan M. Boyer’s new cozy mystery, Lowcountry Book Club with Liz Taylor working on a new case. Clint Gerdhart is the husband of Shelby Poinsett, a socialite woman, who is the president of an exclusive book club. When Shelby is pushed to her death from a second floor library window, Clint is the prime suspect. We all know the individuals close to the victim are the first ones to be accused, interrogated and booked with a quick case closed. Clint’s lawyer is not having this so he hires back up.

Clint’s attorney hires the services of Liz Taylor and Nate Andrews to find out who really killed Shelby. Liz and Nate start to delve into the case and start learning a lot about dear Shelby. Liz decides to attend one of the book club meetings to learn more about the women associated with Shelby. She is also looking for suspects and there could be a few. Shelby was a pillar of the community but she also rubbed people the wrong way. As the investigation continues, Liz meets some shady people with attitudes that make her believe Shelby’s killer resides in the book club.

This is by far my favorite in the Liz Taylor series because the scene of the crime is a library and the book club members are the attraction. I also love trying to solve Liz’s cases before I reach the end of the book and still have not be able to seal that deal. Liz is an exciting character and the cases landing in her lap will keep readers busy. I also enjoy Colleen the spirit of a childhood friend that gives assistance in helping solve cases. This book had well-developed characters and a tangled web that had me guessing throughout the book. I look forward to reading more of Liz’s cases.
