The Crimson Calling is a story about Olivia Irons, ex-military soldier trying to get her life together. She is approached by Vargas, a vampire from the Sanguinarian Council to help them fight against a war that is surely coming to destroy them. Olivia doesn’t fully understand what she is getting into but hopes it’s better than what she has going in her life at the moment.

Devereaux is a military soldier on a mission to build vampire soldiers. Devereaux needs to get a sample of an old blood vampire to do so and will stop at nothing to get it done. As she prepares to destroy any vampire that will not join them she becomes aware that there is a chosen one, she’ll have to confront.

The Crimson Calling has a different twist to a vampire story. Author Patrick C. Greene, tells the story in four parts, each one leading to a big battle. I enjoyed Olivia’s back story, which made me connect to her. I wanted to learn more about character’s Devereaux and Vargas. The writing style was entertaining especially the descriptions which allowed me to close my eyes and visualize what was happening.   I can say even though I’m not a fan of paranormal, Crimson Calling has me wanting to read it more. I do recommend this book to others.
