In this sequel, A Christmas Carol 2 by Robert Elisberg, readers are introduced to Bob Cratchit the former clerk of Ebenezer Scrooge. Ebenezer has passed leaving his firm to Bob Cratchit. Bob has a given heart and does not realize when he is being taken for a ride. Bob’s actions have caused the company to suffer and it will take a lot to change its condition or bankruptcy is in its future.

Christmas Eve arrives and Bob receives some unsuspected visitors to help him learn about the meaning and value of money. Bob is in for an adventure of past, present and future while meeting some unique characters from Charles Dickens previous works.

A Christmas Carol 2 gives Scrooge the ability to teach his former employee a life lesson. This book reminded me of the original story but was different because the characters from Dickens previous work were involved. This added tidbit made the story fun but hard to follow at times. I could not relate to all of the characters in this book but could in their original titles.  I am a fan of Charles Dickens work and would have preferred there not be a sequel. The author does a wonderful job including editor and publisher notes to help readers along the way. However, even though these notes helped I would have preferred to see them as a bonus in the back of the book not throughout. This is my opinion and I recommend others reading the book to form their own opinions.

  1. Thanks for taking the time to read “A Christmas Carol 2” and for your thoughts. Just know in the ebook edition, the footnotes appear at the end of each chapter. (My own preference is to have the footnotes within the text, so people unfamiliar with Dickens can have a guiding map, but I understand everyone has different taste.) Hopefully the humor of the parody will come through even stronger for people who prefer int that way.
