Sneak Peek of Cult by Seelie Kay

Cult
Feisty Lawyers Book 3
by Seelie Kay
Genre: Romantic Suspense
When college students begin disappearing from American campuses, a
notorious cult, God’s Delight, is the primary suspect. God’s
Delight has been hosting shows featuring sex, drugs, and rock and
roll around the country, and young people are flocking to them.
Among the missing is the President’s goddaughter, and he wants answers.
When he asks Agent Cade Matthews, a member of a secret covert
organization, to find her, the mission appears fairly
straightforward. Find the God’s Delight compound, determine whether
a welfare check on American cult members is warranted, and get out.
Simple. Clean. Easy.
Cade sends newly-married Agents Dianna Murphy and Anders Mark to the
University of Wisconsin to follow the trail to God’s Delight, but
when they wind up in Bolivia, things go sideways. Suddenly, what
appeared to be nothing more than a simple in-and-out could cost
Dianna her life. When an Agency extraction is ordered, chaos erupts,
and the question becomes, will anyone survive?
“But everyone can leave when they want, right?”
Tillie cocked her eyebrow, clearly amused. “Of course. But why would they? This is paradise.”
“It is indeed, darling Miranda,” drawled a deep sultry voice. A tall, well-built man dressed in a white cossack, a thick wooden cross draped around his neck, wrapped his arms around her and kissed her cheek. His loose, long blonde hair framed a tan, handsome face with a strong nose and a wicked, full-lipped grin. He turned his piercing blue eyes toward Dianna and smiled.
“Hello,” he said.
The man studied her, his expression predatory.
Dianna shifted uncomfortably. So, Tillie is using another name. Meaning she’s undercover. Noted. Dianna stuck out her hand and said. “Hi, I’m Bennie. I’m one of the students from Wisconsin working over at the orphanage. You were kind enough to allow us to stay here.”
The man took her hand and stroked it, his expression suddenly thoughtful.
“Tell me, Bennie from Wisconsin, what do you think of my paradise?” His hand moved to her lower arm.
Dianna flushed. My paradise? Is this Reverend John? “It’s beautiful. Peaceful. But hot. And humid. Really humid.” She gazed up into the man’s eyes, somewhat stunned at the lust she found there. My God, he looks like he wants to devour me. Dianna quickly looked away.
The man chuckled. “You get used to it. But we keep the air-conditioning on in the dormitories for the newbies and limit their time in the sun. And of course, we all take a siesta during the hottest part of the day if we need one.” He released her arm. “We worship at day’s end when the air begins to cool. Otherwise, things get a little…sweaty.” He leaned down and kissed her on the cheek, gently tugging her hair. Then he walked away. Dianna’s gaze did not leave him as children followed him, playfully competing for his attention. Just like Jesus.

The Smuggler’s Escape
by Barbara Monajem
Genre: Historical Romance, Adventure
After escaping the guillotine, Noelle de Vallon takes refuge with her aunt
in England. Determined to make her own way, she joins the local
smugglers, but when their plans are uncovered, Richard, Lord Boltwood
steps out of the shadows to save her. Too bad he’s the last man on
earth she ever wanted to see again.
Years ago, Richard Boltwood’s plan to marry Noelle was foiled when his
ruthless father shipped him to the Continent to work in espionage.
But with the old man at death’s door, Richard returns to England
with one final mission: to catch a spy. And Noelle is the prime
suspect.
Noelle needs Richard’s help, but how can she ever trust the man who
abandoned her? And how can Richard catch the real culprit while
protecting the woman who stole his heart and won’t forgive him for
breaking hers?
Winner of the Holt Medallion, Maggie, Daphne du Maurier, Reviewer’s Choice
and Epic awards, Barbara Monajem wrote her first story at eight years
old about apple tree gnomes. She published a middle-grade fantasy
when her children were young, then moved on to paranormal mysteries
and Regency romances with intrepid heroines and long-suffering heroes
(or vice versa). Regency mysteries are next on the agenda.
Barbara loves to cook, especially soups. She used to have two items on her
bucket list: to make asparagus pudding (because it was too weird to
resist) and to succeed at knitting socks. She managed the first (it
was dreadful) but doubts she’ll ever accomplish the second. This is
not a bid for immortality but merely the dismal truth.
She lives near Atlanta, Georgia with an ever-shifting population
of relatives, friends, and feline strays.

Book Review: Birth of The Bacchae by Stephanie Mirro

Birth of the Bacchae
Immortal Relics Book 1
by Stephanie Mirro
Genre: Urban Fantasy

Rating: 4 Stars=Great Page Turner

Serafina Finch is an archaeology student who discovers a unique Roman amulet. She starts having weird dreams, which she believes is connected to it. Serafina soon finds herself in a dangerous situation because there is others who want the amulet. She is not sure what she has gotten herself into but it’s effecting her and the people close to her. When she learns about her true identity and the history behind the amulet, she’ll have to go against evil to keep it secure.

Birth of the Bacchae is a story that explores the origin of vampires. It is not like other vampire stories and is well-written. It has suspense and mystery, which made it easy to invest in the story and its characters. I look forward to the next book in the series.

*This book was provided by the author for review purposes only.

“Vampires, Immortals, Bacchae—they’re all the same. The name may change, but their appetites never do.”

Ever since archaeology student Serafina Finch found an ancient Roman amulet on a dig in Italy, she’s been having dreams. Strange dreams that leave her with an eerie sense of foreboding. But between a busy college schedule and a boyfriend she’s hoping to marry, she doesn’t have time for strange.

Then a mysterious cult takes an obsessive interest in the artifact. Serafina finds her life in chaos as she’s thrown into the supernatural world, where Immortals and witches alike claim ownership of the amulet. Her amulet.

As her connection to the amulet grows, she discovers a dark secret about her past. Serafina realizes she must protect the powerful relic at all costs–even if it means losing one of the people she loves most.

“Invisible. Powerful. Immortal. We are Bacchae.”

BIRTH OF THE BACCHAE is a New Adult Urban Fantasy novel exploring the origins of vampire lore in a modern setting. Where do the stories come from? How were vampires created? Do they still exist today?

Stephanie Mirro’s lifelong love of ancient mythology led to majoring in the Classics in college, which wasn’t quite as much fun as writing her own mythology stories as she did as a child. But that education, combined with an overactive imagination and being an avid fantasy reader, resulted in a writing career.

Starting her days with coffee and ending them with wine means Stephanie can usually be found juggling household chores, keeping the kids alive, and trying to write, edit, publish, and market the stories that haunt her dreams.

Born and raised in Southern Arizona, Stephanie now resides in Northern Virginia with her husband, two kids, and two furbabies. This thing called “seasons” is still magical.
